Apple could launch revolutionary wireless technology solution on January 27
Electronics manufacturer Apple sent a mysterious invitation to members of the media on Monday: "Come see our latest creation," it said. Speculation immediately ran rampant that this would be the long-awaited launch of Apple’s rumored tablet PC.
Tech pundits have speculated that the device – said by some to be known as the iSlate – will have a wide range of functionality, able to do everything from browse the web, watch movies and TV, read ebooks, and everything in between. The device could occupy the market segment that nestles between smartphones and netbooks.
Information Week remarks that the market has changed significantly since the last time Apple entered into the tablet market. The company’s unsuccessful Newton portable device was discontinued in 1998 after attracting few buyers and becoming the butt of jokes for the scattershot nature of its handwriting recognition feature.
The event will be held on Wednesday, January 27, at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts Theater in San Francisco, close to Google’s Silicon Valley hometown of Cupertino.
