Apple reports growing adoption of iPhone and iPad in enterprise
In Apple’s recently-closed quarter, the Cupertino giant made record profits driven by sales of its iOS devices like the iPhone and iPad. It also noted gains in enterprise adoption of both devices overall. The vast majority of all CIOs, CTOs and IT managers at Fortune 500 companies are now testing or deploying iPhones (at a rate of 88%) and iPads (at about 75%). “We are seeing great scale of iPhone deployment in business worldwide,” COO Tim Cook said during the company’s earnings call.
With each quarter’s passing, Apple has consistently inched higher in the number of Fortune 500 companies that it touches with an iPhone and/or iPad trial or deployment. It’s clear that the familiarity of iOS and the enterprise-class features being delivered by Apple are attracting enterprise customers at a grand scale. In some cases, more strict companies are making changes to their mobile policy management guidelines to allow for the flexibility to bring Apple’s devices on board.
The iPhone and iPad have opened entire new productivity goals for many businesses. A growing number of enterprises, even outside the Fortune 500 class, are looking at the iPhone and iPad more seriously — that’s if they haven’t already been convinced to support iOS devices by now. It’s become common for companies to either abandon previous device partners of choice or open up to support a greater field of smartphones to bring iOS devices into the mix.
