International Roaming Costs

International roaming expense come in a variety of flavors. Similarly, international savings opportunities abound when you know what to look for. I’ve put together a list of three solutions for keeping international roaming costs under control, which will make you an international superstar.

International Travel Alerts

Visage’s International Travel Alerts product proactively notifies mobility managers when a wireless user books an international itinerary through Concur Travel (or a Concur travel partner). Now you’ll know exactly who’s traveling where and when — and what mobile devices they have — well in advance of the user’s trip. Plans and features can be adjusted to ensure mobile devices work at “wheels down” in the country they’re visiting. You can even start a free trial here.

International Travel Alerts can save up to $2,000 per trip

Skyroam Global Mobile Hotspot

This is a fresh, new way to arm your travelers with business tools while they are abroad. Send your users overseas with unlimited global data for up to five devices for just $10 per day. Pay only on the days the data is actually used. Stop fearing roaming overages from the carriers and start enjoying unlimited global data. With a virtual SIM card, the Skyroam Global Mobile Hotspot acts as a locally provisioned wireless access point (WAP) in dozens of countries around the world. Skyroam can dramatically change the way your employees use data overseas. Order here and use the promo code VISAGE94588 for an exclusive discount only available to Visage customers.

Zero International Roaming Use Reports

Welcome your travelers home by removing their costly, no-longer-needed roaming features. One of the greatest hidden costs associated with international roaming is forgotten roaming features that continue to bill month after month, long after the user has returned home. If you’re using ITRA, then you’ve already set up reminders for yourself to collect Skyroam devices and turn off roaming features. But if you’re not using ITRA, then you run the risk of incurring unnecessary feature costs. Tackle this risk head-on by regularly reviewing the Zero International Roaming Use reports in MobilityCentral. The “Zero Int’l Voice Usage” and “Zero Int’l Data Usage” reports are located on the Spend tab at the top of the page. These reports highlight wireless subscribers with internationally provisioned plans and features who aren’t using them, and also tells you how many consecutive months these features haven’t been utilized. Given that some of these features can cost upward of $60 per month, it’s in everyone’s best interest to give these reports a peek and check out the results.
